The novel COVID-19, also known as Coronavirus is a global pandemic that has infected approximately 3.8 million and killed 260000 people globally as of the date of this writing. A Restricted Movement Order (RMO) for 56 days from 18.3.2020 to 12.05.2020 has been issued by the Malaysian Government as one of the main measures to curb the spread of the spread of the Coronavirus. Hence, many Malaysians who depend on the daily operation of their business have lost the means of earning a livelihood to provide for their family. Despite the RM260bn economic stimulus that was implemented by the Malaysian Government, we, the students of KYUEM, believe that there are still many of those who are less fortunate who are greatly affected by the RMO. Hence, the students in KYUEM feel that it is our responsibility as young adults, and the future leaders of Malaysia, to do our part and help those who are less privileged.
Project KYVID 2020 aims to :-
Help those who are less privileged and the part of community who are greatly affected by the RMO
To encourage all clubs in KYUEM to donate part of their funds to this project
Open the donation collection to individuals (students, staff and teachers)
Fulfill the social responsibility of UEM and carry the good name of KYUEM
Project KYVID 2020 was carried out in 2 phases. For Phase 1, Project KYVID has reached out to the 4 House Captains, 5 societies (CCC, MUSCOM, KYUF, INITIATIVE,HERO) and scholars of 3 scholarship bodies (YK, PNB, PETRONAS) for them to pitch in donations for Project KYVID in the name of their respective bodies. As of the date of writing, Phase 1 of Project KYVID has raised RM 5175.00 in funds. Following this success, on the 22nd of April 2020, KYUEM Student Services gave their consent for Project KYVID to enter Phase 2, which involves raising funds among the KYUEM student population. Any students who wish to donate to help the vulnerable communities in Malaysia can do so via online bank transfer. As of the date of this writing, Phase 2 of Project KYVID has successfully raised RM 6415.00 in funds.
It is with great pride when we say that Phase 2 of Project KYVID has been a resounding success for us and we are sincerely happy to see so many students of KYUEM coming together to help the vulnerable communities. We only hope that this money can help as many people as possible in the affected communities, so that no growing child will have to go to sleep enduring intense hunger pangs without a clue when the next meal will be served,, and no ailing elderly will have to withstand the pains of a fragile body without proper care and medication. It is also very promising that the youths of Malaysia have so much concern and care for the less privileged communities although they themselves are not in the situation. It is evident that the students of KYUEM will be future leaders of the country that have great compassion for their people.
Moving on, we are pleased to inform you that we have successfully surpassed our initial target of RM8000.00 by RM 3590.00, which brings the total funds raised by Project KYVID to RM 11590.00. Words can do no justice to the gratitude we feel to all of our generous donors and their tremendous support to our cause. We applaud you for your kindness and generosity and we are sure these virtues will see itself to a greater cause and reach a wider community as you embark on life’s journey. We would also like to thank the KYUEM Student Services for their cooperation in ensuring that our project runs smoothly and for giving us their full support throughout this program.
With that being said, Project KYVID 2020 came to a conclusion.
Vox Populi, Vox Dei.
